...and we're off. Construction of new green to begin!

Updated: Apr 4, 2020

The Carrier Park lawn bowling green is closed as of March 26 [this is a good thing!] in order to commence a complete rebuilding of the green and extension, along with other major improvements around the green. The Australian artificial green manufacturer and installer will coordinate work with the local contractor with a scheduled completion of the project by early August. As time goes on the blog will have a "green construction" category blog for posting photos and updates on the green renovation project.

The final contract for the construction of the new green was signed the first week in March, a deposit was sent to the artificial green manufacturer so they can now put our custom-made surface into their production schedule, and the first “dirt” was moved and staged to the east of the current green. The dirt was then covered with straw and likely will grow some grass as we wait for the real work to begin.

On March 5th a pre-construction meeting was held at Carrier Park and attended by Joe Parks, Roger Parkin, Steve Nelson and Bill Stoermer plus representatives from the City Parks and Rec Dept., CDC Engineering and Graham County Land (the same contractor for the velodrome).
