It's a long ways to go to bowl, but three Asheville stalwarts made the trip to Sun City AZ to compete in the South Central Open in February. Playing against many of the best in the U.S. and Canada, Asheville members Charlie Herbert (dual member in CA) , Steve Nelson (Greenville) and Todd Wagers (Knoxville) came away with high finishes in the six-day tournament. Charlie led the way with 2nd place in both triples and singles. Todd claimed 1st in 2nd flight singles and Steve finished 2nd in 2nd flight triples. The pairs event was cancelled due to a surprising rain storm.
Nelson also competed in the Southeast Open in early March in Clearwater FL, finishing 4th in Fours, 2nd in Pairs and 3rd in Singles.
