The man who made the new green in Asheville happen has stepped down as President of the club. Bill Stoermer pursued this project from vision to execution and delivery. He worked tirelessly over two years with the City, engineers, contractors and vendors to make sure nothing was falling through the cracks. At times the green project got buried at different levels, but Bill had a knack for knowing just when to follow up and how hard to press. The result is a state-of-the-art lawn bowling green that is recognized as one of the best in the country.
Of course, a project of this scope requires many hands, and Bill would be the first to acknowledge the support of so many in the club. However, now is the time for the club to recognize Bill for all his efforts. The new shed at the green is named in his honor. Thank you, Bill. We’ll let you resign from official duties, but we expect to see you on the green enjoying the fruits of your labors.
